You could get a collection removed from your report sending a dispute that says: "I am requesting you to provide me with a validation of the debt that you spoke of earlier. This is not a refusal to pay, simply my notice that your claim is in dispute and that validation is demanded. (15 USC 1692g Sec. 809 (b))."
It's that simple. Easy, huh?
The hard part comes when the creditor(s) continually respond that everything is valid and accurate. It can be much easier to use an expert to remove your collections. Many companies spend years learning how to consistently dispute collection debt.
Unfortunately, making effective disputes to remove collections is not easy. There are hundreds of ways to word them. You’ll need to spend time studying the FCRA and FDCPA to learn to properly form a dispute.
